Happy to be here to share!

Hello my faithful followers!
I know that I promised to be better about keeping up with my blog. I know that I am failing! I am a work in progress. :-)

Today I am going to share a card that I made for a friend today, and another for a 2 year-olds' birthday. First is the one that I made for a friend. It's just a "cheer-me-up" card. I used a 3D sticker. The patterned paper is Basic Grey from my stash. I used a punch to dress up the sides and made the card like a double card. I'm sure that it has another name! But, this will do! Below is the top card.

Below is the inside of the main card. It's different, but I think that it came out kind of cute! What do you think?

Next I will share a birthday card for a two-year-old. He is a cutie patootie and I wanted to make something special for him. I used all Basic Grey for this card.
It's hard to see that I punched the edge with a birthday candles punch. I then took yellow Stickles and made the flames on the candles. The pictures on the inside of the card are actually rub ons. I added the Happy Birthday stamped below the dinosauer.

I hope that you have big plans for the upcoming weekend! Here in Texas we have lots of festivals this weekend. We are sure to attend at least one of them! It is Oktoberfest time! It makes me dream of being in Munich for Oktoberfest...what fun we had! Have fun, whatever your plans are, and cherish every day with those you love!

Happy Birthday to my nephew, Travis, who is 16 today! WOO HOO! Another driver on the road...beware! :-)

Hugs to you!

She lives!

Good morning, my long lost friends!

As I said in my title...she lives! Yes, I am here and am among the living! I am going to try to get back into the swing of things after a long time away from home and my blog!

Before I begin, let me say Happy Birthday to my daughter, Brandi! I also want to recognize 9/11, and send prayers out to all of those who lost family and friends on the day that America woke up to find that we are not untouchable. May we always keep our awareness at a healthy level, and never again allow the terrorists think that they can change our lives any more than they already have.

Okay, now for today's card!  I am sharing a House Mouse card today, using a stamp called Flower Bed. The mouse featured on this card is called Muzzy. Cute, huh?! I just love the House Mouse stamps!

I used a product called Smooch for the flower. It has a shimmery look to it, which I really like. Sadly, it doesn't show up on the picture. I used my Prismacolor pencils to color the rest of the card.

I plan to share many more cards with you in the coming days. I am just getting back into making cards, after being away for a month. It has taken me longer to get back into the swing of things than I thought!

Hugs for a wonderful day and weekend!

Have you given up on me yet?

Hello, faithful followers!
Have you given up on me? I hope not! As you probably know, I am in NY visiting family and friends. I am here all month, and was so busy before I left finishing 3 projects that I had to bring here for gifts. Also, my thoughtful son flew to TX to drive to NY with me. He was able to visit with us for a few days before leaving for our long drive. He drove 17 hours straight the first day, only stopping for gas and potty breaks! Here is a pic of Mike and Jenn...my babies!
Of course, I can't post without sharing my adorable grandson! He was so thrilled to see his Unc! He's such a happy boy!

Since arriving in NY, I have been on the go nonstop. I have been able to spend time with my sister, niece and nephew. I don't get to do that very often!

I went to see my dear friend, Leslie, her wonderful husband, Doug and their family too. We had a great time together. Her granddaughter, Iris is such a joy! She is beautiful and smart, just like her parents and grandparents! I even had the chance to see a classmate, Kim, that I hadn't seen since graduation...all of those years ago.

I know that you are thinking that I am just going on and on about my family and vacation, but...SURPRISE! I am sharing a card too. I must apologize for the poor quality. It is not the best shot, but I will make it up to you! This is a stamp set that I just love from Heartfelt Creations. They made these to go along with one of the Spellbinders sets...which I can't think of off of the top of my head...Dahlia maybe? Hmmm...don't quote me on that! I used my Versamark pencils with Gamsol on this card. The Happy Birthday is a GinaK stamp...I can't remember the name of that either! Old age gets you every time! The punch used is a Martha Stewart, which is now one of my favorites.
I hope that all is well with you and yours! The next day or so is going to be very busy! I am headed to one of my childhood BFF's tonight for a parade and BBQ. Tomorrow I am off to Buffalo to see my son and daughter-in-law. I can't wait! I am picking up Leslie and away we go! Busy and good times here in western NY! (Cooler weather than TX too!)
Hugs to all!

Happy Hot Sunday!

Good afternoon!
Is anybody out there enjoying the hot weather? I am happy to not have the kind of humidity that we had in Virginia. That humidity makes it unbearable. Not having a pool this summer has certainly affected my tolerance of the summer heat. Next year will be different.

I am going to start out today sharing a sympathy card that I made. I seem to be making way too many of these lately, and don't really like it much. On to the card. The image is a Inkadinkadoo. The verse is from Verve. I love these colors together.

Next, I am sharing a Christmas card. Yes, I know it's only July. But, it is part of a card order that I filled. I just bought the stamp set I used on this at the stamp convention I told you that I went to a couple of weeks ago. It's called Cardinal in Holly by Rubber Stamp Tapestry. I also added the envelope in the photo. I like to have the envelope and inside of the card decorated. One thing that I did different with this card, is that the red part is where the card actually opens, not at the green. It gives it a different look and feel. This card is square also.

I hope you stay cool the remainder of the day. If you have a pool, get in for heaven's sake! I will be back...promise! Have a wonderful day.

Hugs!

Sleepy day

Hello my faithful followers!

I am running on little sleep today, but knew that I needed to be perky enough to share with you today. So, here I am!

My first card is actually one that I made yesterday. It is a digital stamp from Squigglefly. I think that she's too cute! You can't tell in the photo, but both her shoes and her flower on her hat are embossed in red.

My second card is one that I made for my granddaughter who LOVES horses. It's her new passion. She's turning 9 the beginning of August, and I wanted to make her something special. The photos are of both the front and the inside. I will be adding a special verse to it later.

Have a wonderful day! Remember to tell those you love how much you love them today!

Hugs!

Good Friday morning!

It's Friday! TGIF! The week just flew by. I am looking forward to going to a stamping convention tomorrow with good friends. You never know what treasures or new techniques you will learn.

This is another card I made for a friend. It has many layers. I am not sure the brand of cardstock I used. It's a very heavy cardstock. The heart stamp is a Stampabilities stamp. I used an embossing punch by Martha Stewart. I hope you like it!

I hope that you have a wonderful weekend!

Falling behind again!

Hello my faithful followers!
Yes, I am back. I get so caught up in my every day life and projects, that I sometimes forget to get online to blog. My apologies to you.

I had such a great weekend with my grandson. He spent the night with us on Saturday night. We took him for a long walk. We were surprised how far he walked. He is so much fun now. He is going to be 20 months tomorrow. His little personality is really bigger than life. It's fun to hear him saying new words every day.

Okay, on to my new cards. for starters, I am sharing a card from the Housemouse stamps. It's one of the Happy Hoppers called Eggcellent. I used Prismacolor pencils to color the design. It was a lot of fun to do this card! I don't do a lot of coloring and shading, so it was more of a challenge for me. The hippity hoppity is a stamp that I picked up in the dollar bin yesterday at Michael's!

The next card that I am going to share with you is a Christmas card with a Santa on the front of it. It's another card for an order that I am filling. The Santa is from Inkadinkadoo clear stamps. The set is called Christmas Season. You can see all of the detail in the Santa beard,
and hat. I added 2 different colors of Stickles to it to make it shimmer and more dimensional.
I colored the Santa using Prismacolor pencils and used Gamsol to blend. He's a jolly old elf, don't you think?!
I hope that you have a wonderful evening! I am going to get back to work so that I have more to share with you in the coming days!

A new baby card

Hello my friends!
I am sharing a baby card with you that I created this morning. The recipient is going to receive it a little late...but, better late than never, right?! I hope she likes it!

The patterned paper I used is from Stampin' Up! I love using the letter beads on baby cards. They make me think of the old fashioned baby bracelets.

We saw wonderful fireworks last night from our own backyard. We weren't sure whether or not we would have a good view from here, since we have only been here a couple of months. It was our grandson, Bobby's first experience with watching fireworks. Their friends came over too with their 4 children. Seeing the world through a child's eyes makes you see everything differently.

Have a great day...especially if you have a day off today!

Hugs!

Happy 4th of July!

Good morning!
I hope that you rested up for your big independence Day celebrations. You want to be chipper tonight when it's time for the fireworks! Maybe that's all a reminder to me, as I sit writing my blog at 5:30 AM!

Today I am sharing 2 cards with you. Yes, I have been busy in my crafting studio. The first card I stamped a flower image from Inkadinkadoo clear stamps set called Pretty Flowers. I stamped it on vellum and then embossed the image. I added some jeweled brads for dimension and interest, over a pretty printed paper from the Fun in the Sun Summer Mat   Stack. I punched the corners of the card as well.

The second card is one of my favorite stamps. It's a group of hot air balloons. I like to stamp the image twice, color them with Prismacolor pencils, and then cut out the balloons on one of them.

I then take a couple of the balloons and use popdots to raise them over their matching balloon. This gives the card some dimension. I used a punch for the bottom edge too.
Have a wonderful day and remember that Freedom Isn't Free! Happy Birthday America!

Until tomorrow...
Hugs!

Maybe this is your lucky day!

TA DA! Yes, I am making up for lost time! One more card for today, and then I promise that I will make you wait for more, OK? I am sharing a girly card that I thought came out kind of cute! Here it is:

What you can't see is that the shoe looks patent leather. It was embossed with red embossing powder. The ribbon and the pearls were in my stash. The metal edged tag that the shoe is mounted on is from Stampin' Up! The punch I used around the tag is from Martha Stewart.

I hope you are enjoying your holiday weekend so far!

Me again!!

Hello!
I know, I'm not very consistant! I am here again to share another card with you. I am not sure if I will have a chance to post tomorrow, so I thought that I would get a head start.

This is one of the cards that I am making for a friend who placed a card order with me. I used Jolees golf set on this card I used paper from the metallic mat stack, and used an embossing folder to make the dimpled golf ball effect. I then cut it into a circle to make it look like a golf ball.

I hope you are having a great Friday night!

Hugs!

Happy Birthday, USA!

Happy 4th of July! I know that I am a couple of days early.

Instead of a nice patriotic card, I am sharing a baby card with you today. It is one that I made for my daughter-in-law to give at a baby shower. The idea came from Angel Wilde for Our Daily Bread designs. Mine is a little different from hers, but is the same general idea.

I hope that you and your family have a wonderful and safe holiday weekend!

WOW, the week went fast!

Happy Saturday!
I can't believe that I let a week go by without posting a card for you! Sorry about that. I guess that it just got away from me.

I had my grandson overnight on Thursday night. We took him to his 18 month check up yesterday (He is actually 19 months now). He is such a joy, and we can't get enough of him! even the doctor and his nurse commented about how good he is for his age. He's 24.1 lbs. and 32 inches. He is such a little toddler now!

OK, on to my creation for today! I am sharing a card that I made for a good friend. He is receiving it today...shhh, don't tell! He is a guitar fanatic. I don't think that this photo shows the real detail of the card. I Crystel Laquer to give the guitar that realistic edge. I also accented with my Sakura Clear Star Gelly Roll pen. I just LOVE this pen and use it often, which is why I have several in my stash! The brads I used are from my stash too. I used the Happy Happy Bithday stamp from Stampin' Up!.

The inside of the card has images of guitar by Club Scrap limited edition from 2003. I used the Scalloped Dot punch by Martha Stewart. I sure do hope he likes it! I will find out this afternoon!

My husband is celebrating his birthday tomorrow, so I may not get anything posted tomorrow...but, you never know! After all, I am up at 5:00 AM almost every day! It sure does give me time to get things done...like it or not! Happy Birthday to my man, Mark!

Have a great weekend!
Hugs!

It's the weekend!!

Happy Saturday!

It's another hot one in Texas. The sun is shining and the sky is blue. We are spending half of our day waiting for DirecTV to come...you know what that means, don't you? We will be last on the list!

I gives me a good excuse to be here writing my blog, doing my laundry, and making cards to fill orders that I have. Besides, I want to be free of any work when Jenn, Joe and Bobby get home tomorrow. I can't wait to see them.

This cute owl birthday card is part of one of my card orders. The owl stamp is by Inky Antics. The branch that he's sitting on is from Stamps by Judith. I added a pretty pink party hat (from studio g Clear Stamps), with a pop dot giving it dimension. I colored him with Prismacolor Colored Pencils.

Have a wonderful day. Remember to appreciate all of those you love in your life, and let them know what they mean to you. Life can change in a heartbeat.

Hugs!

Busy cardmaking day!

Happy Friday!!
It's a hot one here in Texas. We are supposed to have temps around 100 degrees in the next 7 days, at least.

Since it is so hot and it is almost the first day of summer, it seems only fitting to share a surfing card!

I had a mini lesson on using the brayer this morning from my friend, Barb. I remembered a little bit from a long time ago. What a really need is a Michelle Zindorf class! She is the expert in using a brayer, and does the best work of anyone I have ever seen!

This card is for my husband's birthday next weekend...Shhh!! Hopefully, he won't check out my blog...but, I don't think that he's a frequent visitor!

I used Stickles to make the waves stand out. When I stamped the image (which is Stampin' Up, Extreme Surfer) it didn't look very dark when I stamped it, so I decided to color the surfer in with a black marker. It looked too dark then...ya just can't win! So, I stamped another image and cut the surfer out, used pop dots to raise it up...and there you have it!

For all of the daddies out there, I hope you have a VERY Happy Father's Day! Enjoy your father, and remember to enjoy him and know how blessed you are to have him in your life. Prayers, Love & Hugs to my friend, Judi, whose dad is not doing very well.

Smile!

Good morning, faithful followers!

Today's card is an image from Heartfelt Creations. I stamped the image and then used Prismacolor Colored Pencils to color the image. It's always more difficult to make cards for males, but I thought that this one was perfect for the outdoorsy guy!

I am looking forward to a funfilled day with a good friend today. Perhaps we will be really creative too!

Have a great day!

Another early morning

Good morning!
Well, I suspect that this is going to be a very long day. I have been up since 4:30, and figured that I may as well do something constructive. So, I started with my email, then went to my facebook page, and now I am here with you!

I am starting today with a "vintage" card...meaning that I made it awhile back! This card was made using a fan stamp that I stamped twice and cut out. I try not to always use stamps the traditional way, and try using imagination to create something different with it. Sometimes it works...sometimes it doesn't! Sadly, the detail doesn't come through on this card. The design has glitter embossing on it, with a heart shaped jewel in the center. A piece of black ribbon is across the center, finished with a patterned black and white paper on the bottom. I hope that you get the gist of it.

I hope to get my creative juices flowing today. I am going to work on a scrapbook that I am making for a gift, and cards that I have an order for. If you would like to order cards from me, I am happy to take orders. Just remember that often my cards are one of a kind. We can talk about it though! Have a great day!

It's a beautiful sunny morning!!!

Good Monday morning!

There's nothing like a day that starts with sunshine to make you feel great! It makes it easier to wake up and start the week.

I thought that I would share this cute little owl card with googly eyes. I just love adding a little personality to little animal friends! You can't tell in the photo how dimensional this card is. The party hat is raised, as well as the owl. The hat is embossed with gold embossing powder. The owl is a clear stamp by Hampton Arts.

My second card is a cute little alligator card. The background is textured with a Cuttlebug folder. I added some jewel brads for shine and dimension. He's kind of cute, huh?

Have a super day today. Smile at a stranger and see how good it feels to make someone's day!

Hugs!

Happy Sunday!

Happy Sunday!
I was so excited about posting here today, that I got up at 5:00 AM, just for you...well, not really! I did get up and started creating then though. Since I hadn't posted since Thursday, and finally came out of the shadows on facebook, I decided to post 2 cards today.

My first card is my first attempt with the JustRite stamps. The set is called Beautiful Blossoms. I stamped on watercolor paper, and used Prismacolor pencils and Gamsol to blend. I used Spellbinders to make a decorative mat. I then used a Sakura gelly roll pen to outline bith the design and the embossed edge of the Spellbinder. I can't remember the name of the strip of natural woven material that I used across the card (sorry!).  The finishing touch is small floral stamp that I used with Versmark for the background on the vanilla cardstock.

My second card was more of an experiment. I hope that you will indulge me! It isn't exactly what I had in mind, but will be once I get the actual colors of cardstock that I really wanted to use! My plan had been to make the overalls denim, and to have a plaid type shirt. Since I didn't have those available to me, I made it into more of a little boy overall set, with a kind of fancy shirt. Anyway, it was just me playing around! I hope that you get the idea!

Thanks for checking out my blog! I hope that the rest of your day is great!

Girlfriends card

Today I am sharing a card with you that I made using some of my clear stamps from Fiskars, Girl's Night set. The brads are from Spare Parts by Paper Studio. I used Crystal Lacquer to make the shoe look like "Patent leather". The printed paper is from Basic Grey. It's from the Cappella paper pad. The cardstock is a vanilla from Stampin' Up!

Time to go pick up my grandson!! Lucky me! Have a great night!

A Father's Day card

Good morning, my faithful followers!

Today I am posting a Father's Day card. I have been dying to use these brads from the Eyelet Outlet! I have had them in my stash for about 2 years. They look like little screws, and are so darned cute! My Dad has always been a car nut, and is always building or fixing something, so I thought that this card would be perfect for him. I Cuttlebugged and inked the background paper. I hope you like it!

Have a GREAT day!

Monday, June 7, 2010

No, I haven't disappeared forever!

I know, you thought that I was on the MIA list! Actually, we moved and the process took up all of my time. I had to be sure that my scrapbook/stamping room was just right! One day I will share some photos of my new room with you.

For today, I am sharing a card that I made for a 90th birthday. I used the Spellbinders Fleur de Lis Border, and the Spellbinders Fair Isle Pendant. I used Brilliance Pearlescent Orchid Dew Drop pigment ink. You may not be able to see in the photo that I used Versamark to stamp a flower background with a Stampin' Up stamp. Stickles were used to highlight the Fair Isle Pendant.

I am also sharing a photo of Tim Holtz with you from he Great American Scrapbook Convention in Arlington, TX this past weekend. What a thrill to see such an icon and celebrity in the stamping industry.

Thanks for coming back to see my blog again! I promise that I will work harder to get back here on a regular basis.

Have a great day!

Rain rain go away!

Hello! It's a rainy day here in north Texas. I guess that I shouldn't be unhappy about that since we had such a wonderful sunny weekend. Today should inspire me to get packing...and I will after I finish today's entry.

Today I am sharing a simple card that I finished this morning. It's always a challenge to make cards that are more male inspired. I am not sure that I succeeded with this one, but it makes it's point as a Get Well card.

I hope that your day is bright and sunny, no matter what your weather outside is like today!

Happy Birthday to my friend, Judi!

I want to wish my friend, Judi a very Happy Birthday today! I am looking forward to spending time with her.

I have been remiss is keeping up with my blog, as I said that I might be. It is going to be a challenging month to keep up with anything other than packing and organizing, I think. But, today I am sharing a card that I made for a new baby. Just an fyi, the stripes and balls in the background are just a backdrop, not part of the card! LOL I hope that you like it.

Have a great day!

Beautiful day!

I woke up to a beautiful day in Texas! It's sunny and is going to be in the 60's. WOO HOO!

Today I am sharing a birthday card that I made for my son-in-law (a belated card), and a sympathy card for a friend. The Snoopy card is a Stampabilities stamp. The house and trees images are from the Good Neighbors stamp set from Stampin' Up! I hope that you like them both.

Off to watch my grandson!

I always look forward to Wednesdays. It is the day that I go and watch my 15 month old grandson. He is such a joy in my life...the glue that often holds me together! Here is a picture of him running down the sidewalk last week during our record breaking snow.
Have a great day!

One day closer to our move...50 days & counting!

Each day I get up and wonder if I am going to have everything packed in time to move. I think that my biggest anxiety is getting my scrapbook room packed. Of course, I have laid down the law that the only ones allowed to touch or pack my room are my friends and myself! They understand the importance of everything being handled with care. Yesterday I packed the majority of my stamps. I tried to leave the ones out that I thought that I might need or use before we move. I think that caused my anxiety, seeing the enormity of it all!

Today I am sharing an older card (above), and a card that I just made for my daughter's birthday.
Have a great day!
